A Collection of Characters

These are some portraits that I have played around with to varying degrees - some more successfully than others. They are from a site which a few of us have for putting up more images than can fit on this site. The purists will be disappointed to see the images defaced with text. I don't like the way in which the version of Gallery we use on that site does captions so I often add the caption somewhere on or beside the photograph. The site is Picollective.org (Click link.)

An outdoor educator who lit this fire with a stone and a flint just to show that it can be done.

The original has awful blown out areas around the lady's hair. Lovely shot of her and her backlit hair though.
This treatment not all that successful. Original lost now so may never know what I could have done with it.

Original also lost. Used Posterization minimally to give more impact. Only marginally successful I think.

Couldn't resist asking this fellow for a photo. Williamstown Markets was a good place for social documentary. There were opportunities there which I rushed and spoilt.
Moral of the story:- "If you're going to take up people's time, make it worth their bother."

I didn't know the sticker was on the hat until afterwards. Also taken at Williamstown but the background is Brisbane River.
I'm looking for a suitable vehicle for displaying this 'super hero'.

An interesting young man I met in my travels and just had to ask for his photograph.
It was an unexpected encounter and I didn't have time to decide what better way to portray him to better advantage.
